Working on layouts and compositions for short stories. It's very time consuming, but I love it. Starting next week, I'm going to tackle a 40+ page mock up of a graphic story. All this hoopla always makes me hungry. For example, today at lunch I bought the large size cup at Yogurtland as a challenge against a friend. But I lost...with high chances of a rematch next week. I don't know if this is a good idea or a bad idea, but it's a fun idea.
I managed to get a hold of a few David Wiesner books:
Sector 7 and
June 29, 1999. Both very endearing and imaginative with attractive color washes. There is one book that I really want to get my hands on, and it's
The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznik:
I just love love looove how it throws novel and narrative illustration and silent movie-esque elements into one pot. And it's a historical fiction story based on George Méliès...Selznik really did his research on this one. It's also going to be adapted into a
movie, which should be very interesting.
(also, lol at the interviewer in the video clip.)
